Issue#131: Lenovo - Power Supply Question - Can I use the 230W power supply with a W540?

  • I have a W540, which currently uses a 170W power supply (20V 8.5A)

    I also just recieved a docking station for a P50 which has a 230W power supply showing 20V 11.5A.

The connectors look the same, but I'm hesitant to try the 230W power supply in the W540.

Should this be ok to use the 230W power supply with the W540?

  • Issue#1160637: Lenovo - Power supply question

Hello there, I have an old y580 and love it! I have been running it since its release date. Sadly my power supply has started to wear out and the cord has pulled out of the adaptor unit. Needless to say Lenovo does not sell these power supplies and the liteon and delta recommended supistutes are not sold either... in my search online I have come across "y580 power supplies" but I have noticed they at 19 v not 19.5 and 6.3 A not 6.15.  I was wondering if anyone has experience with this and knows if this is a big deal or will do the trick without throttling performance or damagaging my y580. Thanks!

  • Issue#51018: Lenovo - Thinkstation P500 Power Supply Upgrade

Hi There,   We have a P500  (Lenovo ThinkStation P500 30A7) We had the power supply upgraded to the 850W using part #  54Y8907.  This was suggested to us that by upgrading the power suppy we can put in a larger video card that requires a 6pin * 8pin connector. The problem is the power supply didn't come with any new power connectors, we need the dual 6pin + 8 pin in order to plug in our video card. How can I upgrade these cables to facilitate this? Please help!  Is this p500 even capable of doing this?  The card in question is a Geforce GTX Titan X

  • Issue#53506: Radio Control - 24 and 12v simultaneously from power supply question

I have plenty of the 24v (two 12v in series) and have chargers that use different input voltages. One can use 24v and requires over 13.8, the other uses 12 - 18. So, is it possible, and safe, to pull 12v off one supply of the pair, and 24v from the same pair at the same time? Never tried and was wondering of someone had already done it.

  • Issue#133144: Lenovo - Power supply to v570

Yesterday I left my v570 on and went to do something else. When I returned a hour later it was power off and the little orange led on the power supply was blinking.  My laptop now does not want to power on, and the power supply blinks every time I plug it in. I have tested another power supply and it does the same. I have removed the battery and attempted to power up, same result. I have given it time to cool down or the likes with no luck. Does anybody have any ideas for me or do I need to scrap this and move on ? Thanks

  • Issue#133560: HP - A question about alternative power supply for hp41 series

Hi everybody, As you all know it was considered to implement a direct power supply connection to HP41 series by mean of the two small golden balls present in early 41c. This was abandoned and the side conector was used to direct feed the rechargable battery pack. The rechargable battery packs are all dead and are not easy to rebuilt. Despite the golden contacts are present or not, in the keyboard card you can still see the two connection points. My question is simple: does it work? Are they functional? If yes, would it be possible to charge four N-size rechargable batteries?, or is it just to power on the calculator? I was thinking that, if functional, could be useful to design a connector (using 3d printing capabilities and adding the corresponding metal parts) to connect 41 series to a USB port...at least to use 41 on the desk without batteries... Kind regards Ignacio

Hello everyone, I have been gathering up items for a upgrade to my computer, I've got a lot of new items, Graphics Card and case etc as well as the left-over compenents from the Lenovo H30. The problem is, I purchased a Power Supply Unit from Amazon and the pins which hooked up to the motherboard didn't fit, there was one with too many and one which had the right amount of pins but two of the pins wouldn't fit in.So, my question is. Will a Corsair Power Supply unit be able to hook up correctly with the Lenovo Sharkbay Motherboard. I am really looking forward to hooking everything up, but I don't want to waste money getting a Power Supply Unit which is not going to work or be compatiable with my Motherboard.Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm not the best when it comes to computers, I'm trying. I'll add all the motherboard based information below in this post which I got from Speccy in-case you need any of that information. http://i.imgur.com/qqyocFS.png

Just got my new gen 4 X1 Carbon non touch, very light and so far its great. I noticed something weird since I also have a T450. A more premium supposedly lighter laptop but a heavier power supply, odd choice?

  • Issue#206553: Lenovo - Power supply for a second drive in M92p small form factor ?

Hi, I own the M92p in its small form factor (but not the tiny). This beautiful machine has two SATA III sockets, one SATA II socket and an eSATA socket. I would like to connect a second drive to one of these sockets. But how to bring the power to this additional drive ? Currently,  the power supply brings the power at two locations of the motherboard, one below the hard drive and one behind the fan. From the motherboard, one power cable goes to the DVD bay and the other to the hard drive.I cannot see any other socket on the motherboard for a further hard drive. The desktop power supply has FRU 54Y8874.Should I use another power suply with ore outputs or an external power supply ? As for transfer speeds, would it be wise to connect the DVD bay to the SATA II socket, so that I can use both SATA III sockets for hard drives ? Thanks.

  • Issue#268360: Lenovo - Lenovo H30-50 Power Supply for Graphics Card

Hi Lenovo, I've recently been trying to upgrade my H30-50s graphics card. In fact, I've bought the wrong card twice from misguided advice. Ended up buying 2 cards that were 12cm instead of the needed 7cm or so. Believe me, that's been frustrating enough. Anyway, I've finally found a card that'll fit. It's MSI's low profile 750ti. Its got plenty of power. Looks great. Hopefully should fit. Here's the link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-Nvidia-750Ti-Graphics-Dvi-D/dp/B00ZA1IFGA/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1457787044&sr=1-1&keywords=msi+750+ti+low+profile Wattage on Amazon says 400W. Wattage on Nvidia website says 300W. As far as I'm aware, the H30-50 has a 240W PSU? Is this graphics card an absolute no-go? I have the i3-4160 model. 12gb ram, upgraded with 8gb recently. 1TB HDD.  If this is not a possibility, is it possible to upgrade the PSU considering how slimline these pcs are? I'd much rather find a new PSU than have to try and

  • Issue#349965: Same issue as thousands of HP Spectre Issues, Power Supply no Longer Charges

Same problems as thousands of HP Spectre Issue.  6 month old computer no longer charges and is useless.   Happened after a Windoes 10 Upgrade, power supply stopped charging and once computer finally discharged 100% can not longer turn on.Resolution from HP, send in, expect new Motherboard to wipe all prior apps and files, wait for box to send in, wait for repair,  none are options, must have laptop to work..  Riduculous to think I will spend another $1700 with software, new adapter etc just to get back to work, when my last investment in this HP Spectre cost that same.   HP should just provide a voucher for a new computer and keep my 6 month old unit.   No such luck,So good by HP, back to Lenova I go for good.I appreciate the repair under warranty, but the wait  is not a practical solution when you depend on a computer for your work.Professionals need professional Equipiment, not an HP laptop.

  • Issue#402219: Lenovo Power Supply Help please

Hey Guys, Situation - The charger for my Lenovo Yoga Pro 2 died. I went to the shop which is about a 450km round trip but they did not have the right one. I decided to buy the Yoga Pro 3 charger which has the same voltage and same amp as my current one so i decided to buy it and splice the wires to the plug for my laptop. Problem - The adapter i bought also does USB charging. Which i cut the cable for the charger to slice the wires the main positive wire (white) only provides 5.15v which i asume is for USB charging. The second (Green) provies 4.5v. and there is a negative wire. The problem i am having is that i cant get the charger to output the 20v 3.25a it says it can. I think it might be a "smart charger" or something. Can anyone please help me with this problem? I want it to output the 20v 3.25a. Thanks.

  • Issue#403175: Lenovo - Power supply change (Lenovo H530s)

Hello everyone, I just wanted to ask if this PSU: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CP-9020015-UK-CX750-Builder-Bronze/dp/B008RJZR40/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1459772236&sr=1-1&keywords=750w+power+supply Would work out with my Lenovo H530s (I know due to the size that It'll need to be stored outside the case, and I know that I'll need to buy a 24 to 14 pin adapater to be able to use the main power cable from the PSU to the motherboard). I'd just like to ask that taking all of the above into account, will the new PSU work? Is there anything else I should know?  - Thanks!

  • Issue#495141: Radio Control - Server power supply series question

I currently have a icharger 306b that I run off a single hp dps 1200 power supply. While the supply can supply enough to run the charger at full power, I don't like how many amps I end up pulling from it when I charge my 6s 5000 packs. I've been pulling as much as 50 amps out of the supply. I also just recently bought a 308 duo wich will be replacing the 306 when it arrives. So I want to get a second power supply so I can run 24 volts. Here's my question Do the supplies need to matched? Meaning do I need to get another dps 1200, or can I get a different model that puts out a little less? I don't know if it works like batteries in series where it's ok as long as you don't try and draw more than the lowest rated pack is capable of. Reason being is the gentleman I bought the charger from also converts server power supplies and floats them for a good price. Also, if I do it myself, do I need to float both of them, or just one? Thanks for any input.
