Issue#75923: Linux - Oracle Virtual Box Install openSuse Leap 42.1

  • Got a question on a new install. Like to know if anyone has a suggestion on which version of Virtual Box to install on the latest openSuse LEAP 42.1 package.

Overall install has gone well with no apparent issues. Oracle has packages for openSuse 13.2 but does not list LEAP 42.1

  • Issue#59594: Linux - openSUSE LEAP 42.1 install problem

Have also a strange [never before in decade] install problem with 42.1; after download, burn and verify, and start of install [got screen where select ‘installation’] and see that it has finished loading the Linux kernel, it goes to black & white scrolling script and then ends [cursor blinking at bottom of screen]; no further screen or install progress. First time it ended at line : ‘[0.253117] PCI:using config type 1 for bass access’ After that first time it stalled 3 times in row at: ‘[0.44494] Timer: vector = 0x38 apic=0 pin1=2 apic2=-1 pin2=-1’ Should mention that initial laptop [Itronix VR2] b&w [not LEAP OS] screen has: 1. Legacy (isolinux) Select CD-ROM Boot type: (put in the 1 and Enter and starts install process). Installing on General Dynamics GoBook VR2 [Intel Centrino duo] Would it help to input various kernel options?

  • Issue#222910: Linux - Ubuntu on VM Virtual Box - Wifi Issue - Toshiba L850

Howdy guys, I'm playing around with Ubuntu 14 and I've put it in a Virtual Box and it doesn't seem to recognize my Wifi network. Yes I've turned on Wifi laptop. I'm using wifi for windows, can both virtual and windows run the same wifi card? I have a Toshiba L850 running Windows 7, Virtual Box 5.0.4. Ubuntu and Wifi works fine under a dual boot situation but I decided to step things up because I wanted to play in the mine fields and I figured Virtual Box would be an easy way to recover if I screwed up. Ubuntu is pretty easy (first time linux user) and a trained monkey could run it, seems I've given my trained monkey the week off and now I have this issue. Hints or thoughts on what I might try.

  • Issue#14046: Linux - openSuse Leap installer gets stuck or doesn't load

I have been preparing to perform a major upgrade and HDD replacement at the same time. While waiting for the hardware to arrive, I have been downloading and burning all the iso's that I expect to need. I have downloaded the openSuse Leap X86-64 iso twice and the boot from dvd fails at the same place each time. -checksums ok, -media boots and verify media ok when done in a different machine -openSuse 13.2 i586 DVD gets to the partitioning part of the install at which point I bail out. When booting from the Leap x64 DVD there is a green progress bar that runs along the bottom of the screen. It gets stuck when that reaches 100%. I left it for 20 minutes last night just in case it was a bit slow. Does any one know which point in the start up this or is there any way to get some verbose messages up on the screen so that I can see what is happening? At this point I am suspecting that something in my machine does not like 64 bit even though the CPU (Pentium D 820) and chipset (intel

  • Issue#88687: [server] Ubuntu Server 14.04.3 using Oracle Virtual Box on Windows 10

I'm trying to install Ubuntu Server on a Windows 10 Machine using Oracle Virtual Box 5.0.12 r104815, but cannot get past the "Select and install software" step. I've tried running Virtual Box as Administrator, and a whole lot of other things, but nothing works. The ISO Image i'm using for the install ubuntu-14.04.3-server-amd64.iso is on drive C:\ of my laptop. The MD5 of the ISO I've downlaoded matches the one supplied by Ubuntu. I've also checked the ISO using the Verify CD-ROM option that appears during startup. What could I be wrong here? • Issue#163398: Linux - Virtual Box to bootable on HDD

Sorry If this is the wrong board and/or Forum. For awhile I have been doing a lot of test/learning development on my virtual box while at home on my main (gaming) rig. However, since my rig will go to sleep while idle, it actually shuts down connections to my virtual box and when it does come back up, I am unable to reconnect to the network on the VM without having to restart the VM. I got my hands on a HP tower, I will use this as a dedicated server. I got a tone of software and settings setup on my VM OS that I cannot afford to lose. I want to convert this VM so that can be used as a physical OS. I am running Virtualbox 5... The Linux OS is CentOS 6.6.

  • Issue#387573: Ubuntu - Nvidia driver trouble using 14.04 installation and virtual box of the same install

I'm trying to use both a normal installation of 14.04 and virtual box (from win 8.1) that reads the same installation (via the raw feature of virtualbox). No matter what nvidia driver I use, virtualbox enters a boot loop. Without an nvidia driver the virtualbox works, but I need the nvidia driver for CUDA. I've tried drivers 352 (bundled with CUDA), 358 and 361 (latest). All three same issue. 358 and 361 also displayed wrong on my main monitor. A sizeable border (left and top) falls of screen in the normal boot. There could be a conflict between the virtual box driver and the nvidia driver, since both are installed. But I don't know how to resolve this. Can anyone help me? (PS: using a GTX 660)

  • Issue#632004: Linux - openSuSE Leap 42.1 static IP address won't ping router; all settings look correct.

Hello all, I've spent the better part of this day trying to find answers and Google just isn't what it used to be, at least not for me. I have a Lenovo P50 for work, and I put openSuSE on it. I have working WiFi and Ethernet adapters, and can get on the Internet just fine on either as long as I use DHCP. Unfortunately, as I am a network administrator at work, I often need to manually set an IP address for my machine. I did this once this morning, successfully, and was able to administer a small managed 10-port DLink switch. However, I later tried the same methods to administer a Cisco 5508 AP controller and could get nowhere. Thinking it was the controller or my link to it, I reconnected to the production network and gave myself an appropriate address for that subnet, trying different addresses when it didn't work (and verified with nmap ping scan that each one wasn't in use beforehand). Nothing allowed me to ping anything other than localhost. I looked up on Google to make sure

Also I can't change any setting in virtual box. I don't know how to find my version of vb or how to uninstall it. In short I'm stuck.
